In the days before days were
Before days were counted in words
Before time was crafted by the stylus
Man was young
From those dark days he came
From the shadows of infancy
the youth of humanity was
Only for himself
When out of the dark MAN came
Counting his meal as it came
Hunger and shelter his only gain
Man’s only desire
When grains were gathered and kept
When grains were seeded with thought
And sown for distribution for all
When man woke up
Time began with the counting of grain
At the portions for daily use of grain
His purpose before himself alone
Started true time
When all were fed equally
Fed and sheltered for all
Counting the portions of all
Accounting allotments
The King of the people spoke
He saw beyond the one man
The community became a city
The purpose was all
The gods made all things plentiful
The goddess made them worthy
They knew before men counted
Man captured them
The gods devised the gods of men
Lords and ladies, all alike
The demons and angels of divine
Layers of the same
Each star a watching goddess
Each sun a gazing high god
Heaven filled with countless spirits
Numbered like men
There are no divine beings apart
For they were crafted by men in need
The gods became our tools of choice
Like the words we devised.
