An envoy of Udbad’geno, the son of Kulaba’geno the fallen king of Uruk presented themselves before Gadreel the King of Mithar.
“Lord of the Mitharians, hail. I must inquire –is this a title of your people or of your religious faith?”
“Hail, to you; and the answer is yes – both. Why have you come before me?”
“The Udbad’geno the new Lord of Uruk desires to apologize for the wrongful acquisition of your royal scribe. The fool responsible has been dealt with and shall be a bother to none again. I am also to gift you with this and assure you our people welcome all who care to trade.”
Gadreel opened the small chest that had been presented to him, then “Gratitude indeed.” He removed a delicate gold chain beaded with many precious stones. “Your lord’s message is accepted. Inform him we also desire to reopen our Library of Study in Uruk.”
“Of this topic, I am already authorized to answer, for my Lord’s word is that no proselytizing by Mitharians shall be allowed behind the walls of Uruk, or your majesty anywhere near our great city. Faiths of all the gods are allowed, a thing not accepted under your rule.”
Gadreel looked perplexed, “I must confess my confusion as I was led to believe we were welcomed.”
Noticing Gadreel’s anger spreading across his face, the envoy quickly added, “Of course my lord as the king’s hand I am but the messengers of his will.” Then stayed in a bowed position.
Gadreel nodded to the Captain of his Guards, saying, “I fully understand. Your king’s severed hand shall be returned to him promptly so.” A moment latter, the man was beheaded.
Then, turning to the Lord High Priest Gadreel informed him, “Such is the doctrine of righteous indignation.”
